I feel like a lot of the time lately I am saying that I'm Crazy.  People ask "So how was your morning?'  I say "Crazy".   I seem to have  a lot of things and plans in progress.  So I have lots of little things to do but none of them are in completion phase and cannot be until  a later date.  For example,  Noah's Clone Wars birthday party, Taxes from 2004, paperwork to get the tango  and now I am working on a fundraiser for him so that he can get his Tango which is a communication speech device.  I don't have all the details worked out.  And since I have never done a lot of these things.  I am learning things the hard way and everything seems to take a ton of time.  

A week ago friday,  I was shopping at Target and suddenly did not feel well at all.  I cked my blood sugar and it was dangerously high.  The only reason I could think of was I had changed my insulin site earlier and it was not absorbing correctly.  I told Noah we needed to grab the groceries and go home so Mom could take care of herself.  Well I was by the cheese and squatted down to get a closer look and blacked out.  I woke up seconds later to a sweet boy kissing me to wake me up (that is how you wake mommy from a nap).  I could not form a coherent thought.  I at least knew to call my sister Amy.  She says our conversation was really odd.  I kept telling her we needed sweet and sour sauce,  I was going to go to the bathroom and put my kids in the car.  I did manage to get out that I had blacked out.  SHe yelled at me to not put my kids in the car and she would be there.  She contacted Kersten and he called and convinced me to hang out in the food court.  They both came to my rescue.  Got me home safe and my kids too.  I changed all my stuff,  gave a jolt of insulin and was better soon.  It took probably until last thursday until I felt like I could form normal thoughts.  I am perfectly fine now and I decided this was a way my body could remind me what it can and will do to me and I need to prepare me and my kids.  Sofia got an ear infection that night and was sick, up all night for 3 days.  So we rested and hung out together.  I was suppose to speak in church that sunday but ended up calling the bishop on saturday to ask to be excused.  So I guess that is one way to get out of speaking in church.  

This is being told because it is kind of funny now.  We are all happy and safe.  Noah was scared a bit but now he knows just what to do.  And it seems this  threw me off my game of all the normal mother, wife, housekeeper, daughter, sister, financial maintaintence person.  So everything went to down the tubes and I am playing catch up all day long.  So if anyone has planned an amazing Clone Wars party,  (I bought the invites because I knew that I could not get them done by when I need them,  I am a bit shocked and sad but it really does not matter in the long run.  I love making cards and invites that is why I am sad).  Or if you have ever planned a huge fundraiser  I could use all he advice and help in the world.

My favorite color is yellow.  I love it.  It reminds me of sunshine, happiness and cheerfullness. It's bright, noticeable and can be understated.  A soft yellow for me is really calming and makes me smile.   So here on my top ten list I thought I would list some things that make me happy all in yellow

Visit from Carrie

My best friend Carrie is in town this week and we just hung out today.  It was lovely.  She and her boys came and played at our house.  We ate Crown Burger for lunch, managed the kids, talked and just were together.  I love this woman and it was fabulous just being with her.

Children's Book- Mailing May

This book is about a young girl, May, who wants to visit Grandma in Lewiston, Idaho (you gotta love a book that references real places). Unfortunately,  they do not have the $1.55 for the train ticket.  She even tries to find a job to earn the money.  To save the day, May's folks come up a quirky and probably illegal (but still hilarious) idea to get her there--mailing her.

It's an adorable story that has all the magic of a little girl setting out into the big world via a train. There is a delectable sense of history and wisdom as she makes her railway journey, and the writing is personable and funny. I love the references to the post office. It shows some of the processes that they go through to get the mail where it needs to go. It is based on a true story and the author writes a note in the back about the real story in his family history.  I just love true stories and family histories so I was smitten,

The illustrations are 3/4-page watercolor paintings, with smaller paintings of postage stamps, photographs, tags, and railroad documents, thus adding to the story's sense of reality and historicity. They help establish the early 1900s setting, and develop the characters through facial expressions.  Ted Rand does and amazing job.  This book has got me looking more at  his illustrations.

Wednesday Words 03-18-09

*Kersten was talking with Noah about Weapons.

This is a big deal at our house.

There are NO Weapons at school and 

Now Noah says school is boring because there are No weapons.

Boring is a word he also picked up at school

Back to the beginning.

Kersten asked Noah what his best weapon is.

He pointed to his head and said his Brain.

He learned that at karate.

Kersten asked him how he uses it.

Noah got a smirk on his face and promptly

Head butted Kersten.

We laughed for a good 10 minutes.

What a smart creative kid.

*Sofia is weaned.

It has been a week and a half.

She has asked twice but then resigned herself to snuggling.

It makes me a bit sad

She is my last baby. 

I won't get to do this again.  

I really do love breast feeding.

Even though it does confine you a bit. 

I love the closeness, the sounds they make, just everything.

This is very freeing and a little bit sad

*I am blaming my emotions 

on my hormones.

they are sifting all over the place.

Noah is very specific about his birthday party this year

I only do friend ones when they turn 5,8 and 12  maybe 10 we will see.

But it has to be a Star Wars: The Clone Wars party.

Not just Star Wars.  So  that will be so so exciting

Happy St Patrick's Day!

A little green man snuck into our house and turned our milk Green.   It was done by magic.  He also caused some mischief at school.  It caused a bit of concern for a little boy in our house.  We are going to go search for one of these men in our yard.  We heard if you catch one they grant you a wish and you can follow them to their pot of gold.  It will be a grand adventure.   Noah said his wish would be to get all the bad guys.   Sofia says her wish would be "Ggrr, baba, mommom, dadadada grrrrr".  Sounds good to me.

Back from the Cabin

The Cabin was wonderful.

It was relaxing, productive and fun.

Complete with scrapbooking, flower making

and even some dancing and light saber fighting. 

We stayed up until 4:00am

Watched 7 movies.

Lots of musicals and girl movies. 

We ate to much junk food

Talked and laughed until our cheeks hurt.

Froze our buns off,  it was freezing at night.

Took pictures of all my favorite things at the cabin.

It was wonderful.  

We were not ready to leave when it became time.

Update:  about the meltdown,  I feel as if I need to clarify.

I just started weeping when the computer

would not print what I wanted.

As I said before it had been building up 

and the silliest thing made me weep.

It was good to release all those back emotions.

In my opinion everyone should do that more often.

We would all be a bit better off

I am leaving in a car overnight.

Yep, you heard right.  

I am going away.  

To this beautiful, most beloved place. 

This is my family cabin.

I need to do an entire post dedicated to my love of this place.

I am going with one of my most dear friends Kieran.

I really need a break.  

As completely proved to me when I completely broke down 

I had a major meltdown about some very minor things.

Kersten laughed at me first and then he held me

and helped me figure it out.

This is going to be really good for me.  

One night and one day.

Hooray.

Will post about all the fun when I return.

I saw this idea on Emily's blog and thought I would totally copy it. And since imitation is the best form of flattery I hoped she would not mind. This will be reoccurring randomly with different lists. I also have been struggling with ideas and content and if I do have a great idea I don't get it down fast enough to make it seem relevent to a time frame. Wednesday Words 03-04-09

*I like these random word wednesday.

There are so many big posts I have thought of during the week.

that never seem to develop because of time or tiredness.

I write in my head all the time

But rarely lately does it actually get put down on paper.

Sad, I know.

*Sofia has not been sleeping now

for almost 2 weeks.

She has a really bad cold 

that wakes her up from 2-5 am every night.

This makes for crabby baby and crabby family

and really tired mom from rocking her all night

We took her to the doc today and as I suspected

She has a virus, that we can do nothing about.

I thought it might be an ear infection and the doc was hoping for it

not because she wants her to be sick 

but just so that she could do something for her.  

I hope that she feels better soon.

She was 21 lbs 12 oz at the weigh in

*Noah's teacher has brought in her guinea pig to school

She has two of them.  Loey and Syler.

Noah now pretends he is a guinea pig

making little chirping noises and clawing everything.

It is nice the day she brings them in.

For he is always excited to go to school on guinea pig day.

*Sofia is full fledge walking now.

She races across the room tottling along.

She claps each time she goes a long distance.

If I forget to clap she comes over and grabs my hands 

and starts them clapping.  

It is very impressive.  

She is a big kisser now and gives them voluntarily 

It does make her crying all day and no sleep a bit more bearalble.

*I just finished the first season of Gilmore Girls.

I know I am a bit behind the times.  

I love it.  I think it is making me a better mom.

At least giving me ideas about how to talk with Sofia.

It is witty and funny.  Now I understand the craze. 

I watch it at night while folding laundry, making bows, typing or whatever.

I feel like I am talking a lot about tv lately.  Hmm, I maybe  I should work on that. 

*The last couple of days it has been in the high 50.  

Very warm and wonderful.  It makes me ache for spring. 

We went on a family walk last night.  

Just at dusk when the world looks shaded and the air turns a bit crisp.

It was delightful.  I am looking forward to more of this.  

Hooray! for Canyon Rim Academy

HOORAY!

Today we found out that Noah got into 

Canyon Rim Academy a Charter School by our house.

I can't even tell you how excited we are.  

He was the 2nd one to come up in the lottery.

They only had 15 open slots for kindergarten.

And a 110 applicants.

It is all done by lottery so 

This is huge.  We are very blessed. 

I danced around the kitchen I was so excited.

When I told Noah, he danced around too.

This is an answer to a lot of prayers. 

I know they will be able to help him better in what he needs for his education.

He is just excited that he knows where all the Star Wars books

are in the library since his Aunt Emilee is the librarian.

And really my sister had no pull at all to get him in.

She had numerous people come up to her today and say how lucky we were.

YEAH!

Grateful Sunday 3-1-09

Working Together:   My Mom and Al came to dinner tonight.  It was a very casual affair and tons of fun.  I really need to invite people over more often.  It was so great to have our whole little family working together to make sure all was in place.  After they left all four of us did the dishes together.  Sofia loved playing in the water and Noah is now at an age he really helps and has fun.  A feeling of such peace and perfectness engulfed me as we all worked together.  I just love my little family.

Unplugged:  We have had a much quieter week only in the  way that we watched less tv, did not stay on computer as long, less music,  a lot less talking on the phone.  I have just appreciated the quiet and less distractions.  It makes me able to center so much easier.

Sofia:  She is full fledge walking now.  She is teetering a lot still but, she is so proud of her distance.  She claps when she falls down or stops.  She is into everything and so funny. I love her staccato laugh and her pure joy at life.  She greets people she loves with a laugh and lunges for them.  She is giving volunteerary hugs and gives me kisses all the time.  This makes it worth it.  

Noah:  He has really been struggling the last month or so and it seems like this week,  he has been such a delight.  He has been helpful with his chores and cheerful.  Sofia has a horrible cold and he has stepped up to be there. He helps her and comforts her and he talks to her explaining things to her.  He is such good big brother.  He really has been cuddly.  And more talkative about things.  I appreciate knowing what is going on in his head other than Star Wars.
