Memorial Sick

This weekend has been quite memorable for Memorial day.  Our anniversary was thursday and Kersten was so sick he spent the whole day in bed in agony.  Poor man.  Noah had his last day of preschool.  They had the Snakes and Tails guy come.  Noah is recently obsessed with snakes so it was a big hit.  He even got to hold a snake during the presentation.  I noticed while taking his pic that his cheeks were flushed.  Yep, he had a high fever.  We took the babe in to the doctor the day before and she has the croup.  She seems a bit better now.  Of course,  I caught whatever it is on saturday.  So Sunday me and the kids stayed home from church and I got to nap with Noah and then we snuggled in my bed and watched the movie Bedtime Stories.  It was fun.  Unfortunlty Monday morning saw me in the emergency room for Ketoacidosis.  They gave me drugs and fluids and sent me home.  So glad I did not have to stay.  Noah's fever kept hanging on so we took them to OUR pediatrician on Tues and she gave them both antibiotics.  And she talked with me about my issues and made me feel better.  The horrible thing about this is that I don't feel one inch better.  My ketones have stay high and my sugars.  I walk around like a zombie barely able to feed my kids.  This to will pass I keep saying and praying.  I was told in my blessing on Monday that there is a reason for this sickness and I will know why.  I hate feeling useless and so sick I can barely lift my arms.  I know it will end soon.  

Happy 11 year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to my sweet love! Today we have been married 11 years. So in honor of our love and him I am going to tell you 11 reasons I love him

1. He is constantly trying and making decisions and choices to be a better husband and father.
2. He makes me laugh every day with his silly antics and jokes. He makes life fun
3. He is really good at searching out the details.
4. He always makes time to really play with the kids. They both adore him.
5. He makes up songs about our life and sings them to us all the time. Or starts a beat so we can all start dancing.
6. He still makes sweet gestures towards me to show me he loves me.
7. He still tries to shock me and is so excited when he does or I pretend he did.
8. He has an excellent work ethic and always is working hard to support us
9. He is amazing in a crisis. He stays so level headed until it is over to freak out.
10. He leads our family with strength in the gospel and continues to honor his priesthood.
11. He still makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in any room.

Zoo Visit...

My brother Nik and I took my kids and Em's kids to the Zoo yesterday.  They have a new Madagascar exhibit.  Driving to the zoo we played a guessing game of what is my favorite?  We had to guess each persons favorite animal, cartoon movie, movie of all time, music etc.  Nik and I were getting such a huge kick out of the kids responses.  It was just fun being together and doing something other than working.   Noah was super excited to see the Rhinos this time so we got a picture.
This is a Fossa from Madagascar.  In the movie this is what the lemurs are afraid of.  It is funny because in the Madagascar exhibit the kids favorite part was the turtles.  
Sofia got really excited when we let her out of her stroller.  She loved the porcipines.  She makes the cutest talking noises right now.  She finds so much delight in everything.  Noah learned about snakes at school last week, one of his classmates Dad's brought in their pet snake named Flash.  Now we have an obsession with snakes and he rattles off facts about snakes.  So we spent more time than usual in the snake exhibit.  
The zoo is always a good time but when we left this is what ALL the kids looked like.

Flight of the Conchords.  

We got the tickets months ago and I have been eagerly awaiting the concert since.  Our anniversary is coming up and we decided to use it as a celebration of sorts.  It was on Sunday and we went with all but one of my husbands siblings. The opening act was Arj Barker who plays Dave on their HBO show.  He was really crude but really hilarious.  And then Jermaine and Brett came on and sang and talked and entertained us for over two hours.  I would say it is in the top 3 concerts I have been too.  It was so so funny and entertaining.  Even the way they move is so funny.  I absolutely LOVED it.  The songs and comedy keep going through my mind and making me laugh the last couple of days.  I have even dreamed about Jermaine. Kersten keeps teasing me that it might turn into a Rock and Roll crush.  Musically they are really quite talented and switch back and forth from different instruments and even use their voices as some of the instrumental.  They played off the audience really well and you knew they were loving what they do and having fun doing it.  I am really glad we got to go.

Children's Book- The Important Book

The Important Book

Libbi, Noah's speech therapist lent us this marvelous book awhile ago. 

This book was first published in 1949 and it's timelessness is evident. 

It goes through different things and talks about why that thing is important.  Such as Snow,  that it comes in winter, that it is cold but the most important thing about snow is that it is White.  They talk about an apple, the sky, the rain, a daisy, the wind, a shoe and different things like that.  And at the end of the book it talks about how the most important thing about you is that you are you.  This opened up a whole discussion with Noah and I  we would walk around talking about what the important thing about a chair was, about Sofia, about our house, a tree, grandma etc.  It sparked his imagination and the illustrations are intricate and colorful.  I think it would be fun to make a book about the important things about your family for Family Home Evening or about Friends.   Although I do not necessarilary agree about what they wrote is the most important thing about each subject was.   It still made you talk about each thing and decide what you thought was most important. I really really loved this book.  

Mother's Day 2009

My husband and my two beautiful kids spoiled me for Mother's Day today.  I have never had my own IPod and I mentioned to Kersten awhile ago that I would really like to have one to listen to my music.  All three of them gave it to me last night as a surprise.  Kersten was really secretive and super hyped about my present.  He kept trying to give it to me early.  I would say I could wait.  With all the moving and living out of a garage I did not want to lose my present.  Noah was giddy with excitement.  They got me the pink one so now I have a pink phone and a pink IPod.  What a fabulous life.  

Quick Update on Life:

We are still working on the two rooms we will live in at my sister's house.  It is a long process and everyone involved is a bit tired.  The kids room should be done tommrow hopefully.  All of our stuff is in the garage and we tease that we live out of a huge walk in closet.  It has been and adventure to be sure.  We started looking at houses. and are taking our time to find what we want for the right price.  This process is exciting and scary all in one.  The kids are slowly adjusting.  Noah loves living with Spencer and vice versus.  At Primary today, Noah had two girls instantly jump up from his class when he walked in and made him sit by them in class.  He is a chick magnet, I tell ya.  I watch one of them later link their arm through his and show him where their classroom was.   It cracks me up.  Sofia is turning into a total mischief.  This week alone she has put Spencer's Star Wars book in the toilet.  We blow dried it and luckily saved it.  She opened the door of the Subaru while were driving in the car.  Now we for sure have the child locks secure.  We have found the syrup bottle in the shower and other canned goods around the house.   Every single drawer at her level in Em's house has been emptied.  I just follow her around picking things up.  ANd today at my Grandma's house today she turned on the bathtub and started throwing makeup from the drawers into the water.  I tell you this girl is Trouble.  So there you have it the update for now.  I will post pics as soon as I can of the rooms we are going to occupy.  

We moved

Well, we are moved. We technically did not have to be out of our house until this thursday but we used the weekend to have help from the elders, high priests in our ward and our amazing family members to help us move. The abundance of help and love from everyone is a bit overwhelming. I admit I have not been the most easy or loveable person the last 3 weeks. I could not have done it without the help of my Mom and my Mother in Law. If they were not over helping pack they were taking the kids to get them out of the way so I could pack. With Sofia it seemed like one step forward two steps back. Technically I still have a lot of cleaning to do at the old house.

We moved in with my generous sister Emilee and her husband Gearold just for a couple months while we look for a house to buy. They have two rooms in their basement that we can use. The unfortunate part is that they were not finished. So while I have been packing Kersten, Al and Gearold and the other occasional men from our family. Have been putting in insulation, hanging dry wall, sanding, mudding etc. They are not done yet so we work until we drop at night trying to get them done. The great part for them is when we leave these rooms will be done and Em will have her scrapbook room and Kysa will finally have her own room. It is really such a huge blessing to have a place to crash for a bit while we find our home. Noah thinks it is great. He gets to have a sleepover with his cousin Spencer every night. He is on the floor of Spence's room and Sofia sleeps in Kristin's room. They are partying all the time and a bit hysterical with all this change. It is an adventure to say the least, I don' t have a lot of computer access right now so my posts will be sporatic until we get our own computer hooked up in our unfinished room.
