Jack O' Lantern

For Family Night tonight we had a lesson on the Harvest and how Heavenly Father helped us to make things grow so that we had food. Afterwards, we carved Noah's Pumpkin that he received from the Great Pumpkin on our doorstep. Last Saturday, we went outside and on our porch there was a pumpkin with a note that said " Hello, I am Noah's Pumpkin, Happy Halloween." Mom helped get all the stringy, ikky stuff out of the insides. Noah kept going "ik ik" If the strings accidently touched him he would freak out until it was taken off. He had an ice cream scoop to "help help" with the seeds. He had to scoop and dump them into the bowl. It was a very serious business. Dad then helped to make the face. WOW! We really like our pumpkin. It was the coolest when we got to light the tealights inside with fire. Noah kept blowing them out so that we would light them again. Before the closing song we sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Noah jumped up and down for joy when Mom and Dad were doing it. Overall, It was a pretty successful night. Now Kersten is roasting the seeds so we can have a delicious snack. Hooray for Pumpkins.

Beautiful Baby Boy

We had an old digital camera that Kerst won back when he worked for AOL and we were able to get them off the camera after a little over 2 years. So I just wanted to share what my most beautiful boy used to look like

Tools

Noah has always loved tools. From the beginning he was programed to love trucks and digging and what better to go along with that than tools. He recently has been going around with his tool box fixing anything in the house. He sat on his bed for an hour yesterday fixing his cars with his screwdriver. He love Bob the Builder and his new recent love is Handy Manny. The tools actually talk and they help or "Help Help" as Noah would say with the job. So now he has two shows one with the trucks he needs and the other with the tools. The other day when Handy Manny came on he goes running around the house like a mad person. He gathered all his toosl and his baseball hat and put them in front of the television. He then put a pencil behind his ear and watch the show. Whenever one of the tools was working he would grab his hammer and use it the same way it was in the show. It was quite an entertaining half hour for me and for Noah. That is what I call interactive TV. He found Kersten's lotions holster for doing massages and it has become his tool belt with a Buzz Lightyear blaster also. He wore it to my Mom's house yesterday and inherited a new tool box, measuring stick and a real square pencil. So today we had to take it everywhere with us just in case there was a fixing emergency. I know that I feel safer knowing that Noah can "Help" fix it at any moment

Big Boy Bed

Noah has now officially slept in his Big Boy Bed since Monday night. He is so excited to show it off. I think that it turned out fabulous. His cousin Sam gave him the Bob the Builder Bedding and Noah loves it. I can't believe he is so big now.

Jackets

Jacket weather has finally arrived. I love the cool air and the fall leaves. It screams Change and you know exicting things are going to happen soon. There has been some cold days here and there but now it is consistantly cool. I have been looking forward to October. For many reasons including two of my best friends just flew into town for the next couple weeks. There are so many fun things to do. The Pumpkin Patches are open, the corn maze and just driving throught the canyons to see the leave there are all sorts of fun thingsto do.
Noah loves jackets. He has to always wear the hat and gets very upset if it falls off and yells " Hat, hat, hat, hat" while patting his head. He got a new Buzz jacket last weekend and he won't take it off. I had to post this picture taken a couple weeks ago it makes me so happy. He is obsessed with his tools lately, hence the hammer. I will randomly find him hammering, screwing or clamping things with his tools in the house to fix them. He does a great job.

Furniture

I know that true friends are few and far between and I for one know that I am blessed because in my life I have found numerous friends that I would say are kindred spirits and true friends. Recently, I was talking to a friend dear to my heart and told her how I was tired of living with the old ugly furniture that I had inherited when I got married 8 1/2 years ago. My desire started with redoing Noah Furniture so it would match. I had a foot and head board that were mine when I was younger that I wanted to paint Navy blue and Kersten's old dresser I wanted to paint also She is one of the most talented, creative people I have ever met. She has fed that creative and spiritual side of me. Well my friend told me to bring it over and she would help and teach me how to redo my furniture. There are tons of advantages for doing it together. First of all it gave us and excuse to see each other and it has become a weekly event. Our son's have become great friends and create all sorts of mischief and havoc together. Her son asks now every morning if it is a day where Laurie and Noah come over to play. I have loved being with her. This has replenished my soul and I don't know how to tell her how grateful I am to her. I am blessed that she is in my life. Here are the first 4 pieces that were done. Pictures do not do it justice. I am so sad I did not do before and after pictures. It became a whirlwind of painting
This dresser used to be hunter Green from the 90's. Kersten painted this for his bedroom back in the day. The picture does not do it justice. I painted this but my friend sanded it for me.
This one has become my favorite. it was a very ugly dark brown 70's veneer finish with a black smokey glass top in the middle. I am so sad that I don't have a before picture. The difference is startling. My friend takes all the credit for this one. She also added the molding that went around the middle to finish it.
These are my other two favorite. Especially the chair. She has credit for these also. They were dark ugly brown and unadmirable before. The chair had this old, cream yellow burlap seat on it. This was so fun to see the layers come through when she antiqued it. She had a hard time giving me the chair back, but her husband reminded her that it was my chair. When we brought these home. Kerst said that we finally had at least 2 nice pieces of furniture in our house.

Well, I have created a monster. And as furniture gets done I will post a picture. And if I start something new. I will remember to do a before and after pictures. I really am so grateful to my friend for her patience and talent.

Allie Blanche

My Sister Amy had her baby yesterday. Her water broke in aisle 12 as they were walking around Harmons Grocery Store where her and Jason met when they both worked there. When they arrived at the hospital the baby was breech so they had to do a c-section. She is perfect and we are glad she is finally here. Hooray for the cute baby

October 1st

Today is one of my favorite days of the year October 1^st. I love the fall colors that usually are present on today. The crisp air so I can wear one of my favorite sweaters or jackets. I think my love affair with today began back in 1994 when after Priesthood session my husband took me on top of the roof of his bedroom and kissed me for the first time. The rest is history. I always get so excited as the day draws nearer. My husband laughs at me, because I always remind him that tonight he needs to kiss me so that every year we keep our love going. It makes it even more exciting when General Conference is that weekend. I am blessed to watch the words of our Heavenly Father through our prophet and feel the spirit the entire weekend. The 3^rd session is just beginning and the Tabernacle Choir is singing and I have warm fuzzies going throughout my entire body because I know today is going to be a good day.
