Mischief Leprechaun 2010

A leprechaun came to our house today

Even though we even set a trap.

Noah designed it and even put a sleeping potion in it so that he could not get out.
It looks a bit like a tent, I would think.
We put something green in it,  his frogee
and some golden coins and he even put straw in there to make him more comfortable.
The cups on top were for headlights
to attract him to the trap.
Next year Noah says we need to put sticky tape all through the trap.

He snuck out of the trap and snuck to our fridge

and made our milk green.
He is full of mischief this one.
He even drank one of our Sprites.
Noah had to investigate and keep each of the footprints
so he came make a better plan for next year.
I love this outfit on Sofia
It really is so fun to dress up a girl
and one that loves to be so pretty all the time.
I love having a daughter.

And Irish blessing.....

May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

October and Happenings

October
by Robert Frost

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if the were all,
Whose elaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost--
For the grapes' sake along the all.

Oh, How I just love October.  I am loving the crisp air and the smell of leaves and cold.
We have had a perfect last couple of days.  Noah has been out of school and we have just been together.
In his prayers at night he even said he was thankful to be with mom and baby all day.
He does love school.  But he is a bit of a homebody just like his Mom.
We both love spending time just chillin at home.
Especially now that we have our new house which we just love.
We got his halloween costume today.
He has not taken it off since.  I have a feeling that he will be wearing it all month.
Sofia has been crying for over a month.
I have decided it is because she is overly fatigued.
I have to wake her up every day from her nap to go pick up Noah.
Makes for a very grumpy princess.
I knew there would be sacrifices to have him at this school
But I hate feeling like I am sacrificing one child for the other.
The plight of motherhood I guess.
It is my housbands busiest time at work so he is a bit stressed and gone a lot.
So it makes it even sweeter when we see him.
I am really looking forward to the weekend.  General Conference with this great cool weather
Can't ask for more than that.

I Am...

I am your parent;
you are my child.
I am your quiet place;
you are my wild.

I am your hush now;
you are my lyrical.
I am your peace on Earth;
you are my miracle.

Dragons

"Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses
 who are only waiting to see us act,
 just once, with beauty and courage.
Perhaps everything that frightens us is,
 in its deepest essence,
something helpless that wants our love."
— Rainer Maria Rilke

I Believe

I believe in Pink.
 I believe laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing;  kissing a lot.
 I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
 I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
I believe that tomorrow is another day,
 and I believe in miracles."

Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

- Mother Teresa

Just a Mom?

Just a mom?" There's no such thing. Motherhood isn't a second-rate occupation. It is a career that can maximize your talents and strengths to their fullest. Look past the surface of mothering - the endless tasks and frantic pace - to the incredible skills required to raise your children while nurturing your marriage. The truth is clear: You're a professional in one of the most dignified, demanding, and rewarding fields any woman can find."

May Day

Siker this morrow, no longer ago,
I saw a shole of shepherds outgo
With singing, and shouting, and jolly cheer;
Before them yode a lusty Tabrere,
That to the many a horn-pipe play'd,
Where to they dance each one with his maid.
To see these folks make such jouissance,
Made my heart after the pipe to dance.
Then to the greenwood they speeden them all,
To fetchen home May with their musical:
And home they bring him in a royal throne
Crowned as king; and his queen attone
Was Lady Flora, on whom did attend
A fair flock of fairies, and a fresh bend
Of lovely nymphs—0 that I were there
To helpen the ladies their May-bush to bear!

The Holy Night

The Holy Night
By Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861)

We sate among the stalls at Bethlehem;
The dumb kine from their fodder turning them,
Softened their horned faces
To almost human gazes
Toward the newly Born:
The simple shepherds from the star-lit brooks
Brought their visionary looks,
As yet in their astonied hearing rung
The strange sweet angel-tonge:
The magi of the East, in sandals worn,
Knelt reverent, sweeping round,
With long pale beards, their gifts upon the ground,
The incense, myrrh, and gold
These baby hands were impotent to hold:
So let all earthlies and celestials wait
Upon thy royal state.
Sleep, sleep, my kingly One!

Happy Thanksgiving

for each new morning with its light,
for rest and shelter of the night,
for health and food, for love and friends,
for everything thy goodness sends.

for flowers that bloom about our feet;
for tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
for song of bird, and hum of bee;
for all things fair we hear or see,
father in heaven, we thank thee!

October

October gave a party,
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.

The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

- George Cooper, "October's Party"

Okay, I saw this on Kristi's blog and fell absolutely in love with it. It sang to me and made me smile and forget everything I have to do. For you see October is my favorite month and October 1st is my favorite day. For starters it actually feels like fall by now. I get all tingly thinking about the crisp air, sharpened pencils, jumping in leaves and the beauty of the mountains that surround me. Kersten and my first kiss was on October 1st and now my niece Allie has a birthday today. She is 1 years old already. So here is a little tribute to my favorite month and day. Happy October everyone. Enjoy!

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
One friend who Always makes her Laugh...
And one Who let's her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE..
A good piece of furniture not previously owned by Anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...
A feeling of control over her destiny

A WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to fall in love
Without losing herself

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to quit a job
Break up with a Lover
and confront a friend without ruining the friendship

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
When to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
That she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips. or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she would and wouldn't Do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
How to live alone... even if she doesn't like it

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
Whom she can trust, whom she can't,
And why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
Where to go..
Be it to her best friend's kitchen table, Or a charming inn in the woods..
When her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she can and can't accomplish
In a day...
A month...
And a year...

I found this cute thing that I got at Relief Society. Just wanted to share

Child

"They are idols of hearts and of households!
They are angels of God in disguise;
The sunlight still sleeps in their tresses,
His glory still gleams in their eyes;
These truants from home and from Heaven,
They have made me more gentle and mild;
And I know now how Jesus could liken
The kingdom of God to a child."

For Once, Then, Something

OTHERS taunt me with having knelt at well-curbs
Always wrong to the light, so never seeing
Deeper down in the well than where the water
Gives me back in a shining surface picture
My myself in the summer heaven, godlike
Looking out of a wreath of fern and cloud puffs.
Once, when trying with chin against a well-curb,
I discerned, as I thought, beyond the picture,
Through the picture, a something white, uncertain,
Something more of the depths—and then I lost it.
Water came to rebuke the too clear water.
One drop fell from a fern, and lo, a ripple
Shook whatever it was lay there at bottom,
Blurred it, blotted it out. What was that whiteness?
Truth? A pebble of quartz? For once, then, something.
