Child

"They are idols of hearts and of households!
They are angels of God in disguise;
The sunlight still sleeps in their tresses,
His glory still gleams in their eyes;
These truants from home and from Heaven,
They have made me more gentle and mild;
And I know now how Jesus could liken
The kingdom of God to a child."

Mercedes

Today for my sister Emilee's company, Arbonne, it was test drive a Mercedes day. Of course, my husband was not going to miss it. I was lucky to be able to drive it down the street when it was my turn. Kersten took it on the freeway, he had to open up the engine. Oh, it was a magnificent machine. You could not anything as we drove along the freeway. It was like floating on a cloud

The kids thought it was so fun. They let them climb and pretend to drive in the cars in the showroom. They played with the electronic seats for a half hour. You will never have to take your seats out of your car again, they fold into the floor. Noah and his friend Jaimason liked the convertible the best. Spencer liked the SUV, I think just because of the seats.

Here is myself and my sister Emilee in front of her car someday. She can earn herself a Mercedes through Arbonne. It will be so cool when she does. This car is only about $40,000, which is not as expensive as I imagined. But still more than we could afford.

Here is beautiful Kristin and her mom.
Overall, it was really fun. Kersten is now a Mercedes Man, although I am sure he still likes BMW also. He is a Car man.

We met Kaitlyn Kennedy

Hooray, we finally go to meet my cousin Dave and his Wife Polli's new sweet baby, Kaitlyn Kennedy S. They have waited 9 1/2 years for this sweet girl. She was adopted in January. These two have been through a lot to have this girl and I am so thrilled for them. She is such a cute, fun baby. She is so tiny. Her pants were falling off her. Kaite has the sweetest little mouth and big beautiful eyes. Polli is in town for a very short while so on Friday March 23 we ran over to hold the baby and see her fast before she had to leave again.

Noah thought she was cute. He would go over and talk to her and grab her hands. He was so funny. Polli and I were trying to get him to kiss her for a picture. He was to fast for us. He showed her some of the finer points of Star Wars. It was so funny we all laughed. Polli's Dad gave him cookies , so he was a happy camper

I just loved this picture of Kersten and Kaite. It always melts my heart when I see him holding a baby.

This baby LOVES her mom. She is definitely a mama's girl. She would always turn her head so that she could see or hear Polli at all times. This looked good on Polli, She looks so happy and content. I could not be more thrilled for her.

We totally loved seeing Polli and Kaite. We miss them so much. Florida is beautiful and fun but we want them a lot closer

    Daffodils

The Speaker in Sacrament Meeting told this story. Kersten has commented on this story several times. It hit a nerve with both of us. So I am going to share with you.

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say, "Mother, you must come see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead. "I'll come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly, on her third call.
Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and so I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren, I said, "Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in the clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see bad enough to drive another inch."

My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother." "Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home," I assured her.

"I was hoping you'd take me over to the garage to pick up my car."
"How far will we have to drive?"
"Just a few blocks", Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this."
After several minutes, I had to ask, "Where are we going? This isn't the way to the garage." "We're going to my garage the long way," Carolyn smiled, "by way of the daffodils." I sternly told Carolyn to please turn around. "Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."

After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church I saw a hand-lettered sign that read "Daffodil Garden."
We got out of the car and each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. We turned a corner of the path and I looked up and gasped.

Before me lay the most glorious sight. It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns -- great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, saffron, and butter yellow.

Each different-colored variety was planted as a group so that it swirled and flowed like it's own river with its own unique hue.
There were five acres of flowers. "But who has done this?" I asked Carolyn.

"It's just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well kept A-frame house that looked small and modest in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house and on the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Going To Ask" was the headline.

The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "one bulb at a time, two hands, two feet and very little brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."

There it was, The Daffodil Principle. For me, that moment was a life changing experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who more than forty years before, had begun one bulb at a time to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountain top. Still, planting one bulb at a time, year after year had changed the world in which she lived. She had created something of indescribable beauty and inspiration.

The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration. That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time -- often just one baby-step at a time -- and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time.
When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world.

"It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it "one bulb at a time" through all those years. Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"

My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.

It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"

    Busy and other such nonsense

This week I have felt more than a little bit haggard. I feel the weight of everything that is represented in this painting of "The Responsible Woman", Home, Career, creativity, chef, housekeeper, leader, scheduler, family and romance. I as the enrichment leader in our ward had the Relief Society birthday party on thursday. I think it turned out rather well. Unfortunetly, I forgot to take pictures of everything on that night so I will just have to describe it.
For decorations we had wrapped a birthday present with a handkerchief and a poem about Heavenly Fathers love for each individual sister that we put a their plate. They were wrapped in pink, lavender and yellow paper with 5 pastel colors of curly ribbon. We had a two tiered birthday cake as the centerpiece on cake pedestals. Kathy, my sister in law Lena's mother came and decorated them for me. She made pink roses for them. They turned out incredible and the sisters loved them. Kathy and Lena helped me Wed mid morning and afternoon decorating these cakes. I am so grateful because cake decorating is not my talent and If I had done it myself it would be lucky to have frosting on it.
For food we had french dip sandwiches, strawberry spinach salad, fruit, veggie tray and cake for dessert. Karina the enrichment counselor made all the meat. It was delicious and tender, quite impressive really. Suzanne on my committee did the program. She found all these fun facts about Relief Society and wove them together with the Songs that Leslie and Roger sang. Here is one of those random facts, In the 20's the Relief Society started a catching flies club worldwide. Where the women would catch flies and put them in a jar and get together once a week to bury them and have potluck. There were no screens and flies spread disease. So by doing this they all were much healthier. The songs were so fun, In the year that Relief Society formed, the hit song was "I Dream of Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair", they sang that and "I Love You Truly" a love song from the 20"s and two hymns by Mickey Hart who is in our ward. It was beautifully written and very enjoyable. I was amazed at Suzanne's talent in arranging everything to fit so beautifully together. I took my camera but I was running around so much that I barely had time to sit down, so I forgot to take pictures. It look really nice and I was really glad to see it over. I was so busy and stressed that friday I had the worst migraine I have had in 4 years, My sweet sister Em took Noah so I could sleep. He was in heaven play Star Wars with Spencer and his friends. I apologize about the gap in my blogging adventures and I will warn you next time if I need a week break.

After my week I needed a little R and R, Jason and Verity came over after Noah went to bed on Fri and we watched "Stranger than Fiction" with Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhal. I personally Loved it. Kersten said it was good but I don't think he loved it as much as I did. I loved the literary elements of this show. I loved Maggie's character, Ana who was a baker that did not want to pay her taxes. I also liked seeing Will Ferrell in a more serious role but I told Kerst that it I kept laughing cause I would see a little of Elf or some of his other crazy characters in his face and it would make me laugh. I really liked this movie. I don't remember any swear words although there could have been a few mixed in. I loved how they told the story and it was just really interesting. If you haven't seen it, I don't want to give to much away. So I will stop now.

    Movie Premiere-Little Playdates, Little Adventurers

Today was the Movie Premiere of Little Playdates, Little Adventurers. My Son, Noah is now an official movie star. I don't think he quite understood what was happening. He was just excited that he was with some of his fun family. We arrived a bit early because I was a bit paranoid about getting seats. Kersten was teasing me a lot about it. I told him to blame it on my Grandpa Larry, who arrived at least a half hour early to anything important. So we pretended to play arcade games and looked at the water fountain until it was time to line up for the show.

Here we are in line to get into the theatre. Here is a list of who came, Aunt Virginia, Uncle Nik, Aunt Lena, Cousin Spencer, Cousin Kristin and her doll Samantha, Mom Laurie and Dad Kersten. It was a rough decision of who to invite and it also relied on who was available. Nik, Spencer and Noah kept running out of line to look at posters and play like they were Ninjas. It is just to hard to stand in line, so they made their own entertainment. They said in one of their emails that there would be a red carpet for the kids. Sadly that was not the case. They did have cookies, punch and a toy dinosaur or bracelet for each kid as they walked in the theatre. They had a series of pictures from the film shoots that were flashing on the screen. Noah was in 2 of the flashing pictures and in the background of another. Pretty good for only a small sampling of all their footage. We would cheer whenever Noah would appear

Trent and Joanne Pettry, the directors and creators of Little Playdates, welcomed us all there. They talked about the last year and the awards they have gotten and all the things that have happened since they started. The coolest thing that happened was that their movies have been recognized for helping children with Autism. They reminded us that this movie was for children 0-3 years of age and that any of the animal footage comes out in the movie coming out in May.

Then the movie began. I looked at Kersten and for some reason only a mother would understand, I was filled with so much emotion. I was so excited, thrilled and proud that my son might be in even 2 seconds of this movie. I felt really silly but Kerst just smiled and squeezed my hand. Fortunetly for us, he was in the movie about as much as any other of the kids. He mostly had his serious face on. I realized in that moment that my son when in huge groups of kids he hangs back and accesses the situation before he dives in. He was in the Dinosaur Museum segments a lot. They showed his hands playing in the sand with the dinosaurs a lot. That was his favorite place in that museum. I was sad he was not in the Firetruck segment. That was by far the most exciting of him. He got to turn on the siren and a fireman showed him all the diffrent parts of the truck. Afterwards, they showed us bloopers from filming and then gave each child in the movie a goodie bag, that had a copy of the movie in it, an airplane, some candy and another dinosaur. They then gathered all the kids for a group picture and it was over. It was a darling movie. They commented on how quiet the theatre was during the film ALL the kids were watching and paying attention. I am sure to see when they would come on. But it was entertaining and the music was really fun.

Oops downloaded the modified picture that I was playing with on I Photo.

I am so grateful that Noah had the oppurtunity to be in a movie. He loved seeing himself on that big screen. It made him laugh and point. It is so fun to have my son captured in this moment in his life, in such a unique way. I think everyone who got to come enjoyed it. They all humored me for pictures afterward. Although I wish that I had gotten different types of pictures and they did not allow camcorders in at all. In the DVD, it has the movie and on the other side you get a CD of the soundtrack. I thought that was fun to get both things in one. Overall, It was a marvelous day.

Then we walked out to this.

A green blazer hit our car going into the parking space next to us. At least they left their info. It put a damper on our mood. Kersten was very grateful we had our camera so that we could photograph evidence. We will get the car fixed and it will turn out all right. It was a young new driver that did not know how to drive that big of a car correctly. Her dad did not sound very happy when Kersten called them after we arrived home. We made pizza for dinner and then watched Noah's movie, one more time before his bedtime. It was a pretty fun day. Noah was by far the cutest kid in Little Adventurers but I am a little bias.

    Movie Star

My son, Noah is a movie star. Yes, you read that right, Noah is in a movie and the premiere is on Saturday. I am so excited, I am almost bursting. The movie is by The Little Playdates Company, the movie is called Little Adventurers, the Green one in the middle of the picture. He will most likely be in the Little Animals movie also but he had more footage in Little Adventurers. He even got paid to play and be as cute and darling as we all know that he is. We put it in a savings account he can't get too until he is 18. It is pretty good he is already earning money at 2.
It was really fun going to the shoots. It was quite fasinating to see how they shot the movie, The kids would just play and they would film it. He got to see a real firetruck and honk the horn and climb all over it. He went to the Pumpkin patch, he played at the studio and he went on lots of fun adventures.
So the premiere for the movie for the kids is on Saturday at 3:00 in the afternoon. They have the kids walk down like on the red carpet and take pictures. They have a press bag of goodies for each kid and we get to see his movie on the Big Screen. It will be so fun. I will for sure keep you updated on the event. The movie is only on sale right now online at there website which I have in my links section. It is normally $17.95 but at the event we can get them for $12. Let me know if you want me to pick one up for you. Hooray for Noah. Who knows this could be the beginning of something fantastic

    My Two Men

I love this picture of my men. Noah adores his DaDa or Daaah. During the day, he will look at his watch and say "Da Da". It is time to go get Dad at work. I did that one time, when it really was time to go get him at work and I had the car. I believe now that Noah thinks if he says it, it will come true and His hero can come home. There is no one better to play Lightsabers with. Their Kerrigans (wooden swords Uncle Jason made to help protect Aunt Christel from the boys) he has taught him how to block the other attacker, A very important skill to a future knight. Dad and Noah have hunted Zurg in our house more times than I can count. I am grateful for this service, they are great defenders of our home. They rough house and wrestle which every boy needs an abundance of. Dad will always let Noah help with fixing stuff. And not just handing him tools or letting him watch. He gives him a screwdriver and lets him tighten the screw. They wash cars together, shovel snow, change lightbulbs, fold laundry and clean bathtubs together. I love watching them cook together. My husband is not famous for his patience but with Noah I see patience more often then not, As they are making french toast, chicken or whatever else is on the menu, Noah is bursting with excitement. I love watching their love grow. Kersten is definitely teaching Noah the better part of being a man. I am grateful that Kersten grabs the oppurtunities to teach Noah and explain things to himNoah is a lucky boy to have a father that is so present and involved in his life. I am one lucky women to have these men
